Printed circuit board is mainly composed of welding plate, through-hole, installation hole, wire, components, connectors, filler, electrical boundary, etc. The main functions of each component are as follows:
Solder pad: metal hole used for welding pins of components.
Through-hole: A metal hole used to connect the pins of components between layers.
Mounting hole: used for fixing printed circuit board.
Conductor: Electrical network copper film used to connect the pins of components.
Connectors: Components used to connect circuit boards.
Filling: Copper coating used in ground wire networks to effectively reduce impedance.
Electrical boundary: used to determine the size of the circuit board, all components on the circuit board should not exceed this boundary.
The functions of flexible Circuit board can be classified into four types, namely, Lead Line, Printed Circuit, Connector and Integration of Function. The applications cover computer, peripheral auxiliary system of computer, consumer electrical appliances and automobile, etc.

According to the combination of base material and copper foil, flexible circuit board can be divided into two types: flexible board with glue and flexible board without glue.Among them, the price of glue-free flexible board is much higher than that of glue-free flexible board, but its flexibility, the bonding strength of copper foil and base material, the flatness of welding disk and other parameters are better than that of glue-free flexible board.Therefore, it is generally only used in those demanding occasions, such as: COF (CHIP ON FLEX, exposed CHIP affixed to flexible board, high requirements ON the flatness of welding plate) and so ON.Because its price is too high, the vast majority of flexible board that is applied in the market still has the flexible board of glue.Because the flexible plate is mainly used for bending occasions, if the design or process is not reasonable, it is easy to produce micro cracks, welding and other defects.
If the circuit design is relatively simple, the total volume is not large, and the space is suitable, the traditional interconnect mode is much cheaper.Flexible circuits are a good design choice if the circuit is complex, handles many signals, or has special electrical or mechanical performance requirements.Flexible assembly is economical when the size and performance of the application exceeds the capacity of the rigid circuit.A 12MIL pad with 5miL through-hole and a 3mil line and spacing flexible circuit can be made on a single film.Therefore, it is more reliable to mount the chip directly on the film.Because it does not contain flame retardants that may be a source of contamination from the ion drill.These films may be protective and solidify at higher temperatures, resulting in higher vitrification temperatures.The reason why flexible materials save cost compared with rigid materials is that connectors are not used.
