Some people say that the most important thing in hardware development is principle design and PCB design, while others say that the most important thing in hardware development is performance. However, few people care about the soldering process before the birth of the hardware product, that is, the process of device assembly. The result is important, but if there are problems in the process, the result is not much better.
When I was a beginner in electronic design, what I knew about soldering is to fix a bunch of scattered components one by one according to the schematic diagram and the corresponding position in the PCB, which can ensure the connectivity of the electrical appliances.
When soldering the circuit board under the guidance of the senior, I was reminded to make the soldering surface as flat and smooth as possible.
When contacting a high-speed circuit, I was told that in addition to the soldering level, a small amount of auxiliary materials of flux should be used, because it will affect the signal quality.
In the first two days of product debugging, some inexplicable problems appeared. It was a group of signals with the same signal level. I don’t know why some of the signal levels were low, or occasionally not. I tried various debugging for two days. I doubt the incorrect selection of components, doubt that the design principles are incorrect, and doubt their own knowledge of physics. After these problems appear, consider whether there is a problem with your work habits.
For example, because of bad habits, often only one end of the components at both ends of the patch is soldered, the device values of the same package are used incorrectly, the components are soldered, and the flux is used too much. These may be the reasons for your current dilemma. The bug this time was caused by excessive use of flux. Inferior flux may not be as good as not being used. When you have been struggling with a problem for a long time, don’t forget to ask another person to try, because you may have fallen into your own inherent thinking mode, maybe changing your brain thinking will have different results.
Finally, welding is so important, we should pay attention to those things:
1. Welding Materials: solder, flux
2. Welding Temperature: adjust according to the type of device, otherwise you will see the crystal clear light-emitting diodes being blackened by you.
3. Welding Environment: Do not smoke when there is smoke.
4. Do A Good Job of Protection: static electricity, solder splash protection, life first.
